Downey’s (Santa Barbara, CA)

Have you been in a restaurant where a server describes sauce for 5 mins? Totally over the top description….and worst thing is food isn’t even good.
I am a fan of gimmick free, straight forward food with fresh ingredients. Meet Downey’s restaurant in Santa Barbara. No fancy interior, no fancy description, no gimmick – just honest great food! (with a touch of chef’s magic)
Their grilled duck is my favorite. Chef John Downey still working hard in the kitchen, and his wife working front of the house, they only use local and seasonal ingredients.(So their menu changes a lot) Nothing overly complicated or over the top. Honest fresh food and they all taste so good. You will feel like all the ingredients are alive when you bite into their food. Their signature dessert is white chocolate puff pastry with raspberries. And you know I can eat the entire thing.
